REPORTS TO Manager - Plant (JATM) GRADE 207

Summary/Purpose
This position will provide leadership for quality assurance and quality control functions. QM is to lead team to ensure the Customer Specific Requirements are met which include the authority to stop production if CSR's are not met.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Lead and monitor primary functions of quality assurance and quality control functions including acting as management representative for customer and quality system requirements; facilitating product validation, receiving inspection, calibration, and conformance test systems; and supporting daily priorities.
Develop strategy to satisfy customers, shareholders, and team members.
Participate as key member of JTEKT leadership team helping to set direction for organization and support continual improvement.
Observe departmental performance, analyze cause & effect, and take appropriate action.
Develop and be accountable to operating plan and financial commitments.
Communicate operating plan targets, action plans, and status on a regular basis to all members.
Promote continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance through Kaizen and leading positive change.
Support staff, specialists, and team members by providing training, instruction, and leadership with regards to their personal growth and job performance.
Support JNA initiatives for synergistic systems that will benefit JNA in total.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supervising employees in accordance with policies and procedures.

Knowledge and experience in quality systems and quality standards; blueprints and tolerance standards; metrology; and materials science.
High-volume manufacturing experience with machining, assembly, or die casting (optional).
Tier-1 automotive industry experience (optional).
Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.

Education and Experience:
Bachelors in Engineering or related field
5 or more years of related direct supervisory experience.

Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time.
Employee may perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
